What to Bring

A few simple preparations before you visit will make sure your time at the Tocal Homestead historical site is the best it can be. The historical site covers more than 140 acres of open land. While you will explore a number of intact buildings during your visit, your visit will also be spent outdoors exploring the gardens and grounds.

Dress in comfortable, layered clothing. Wear comfortable shoes, suitable for walking, pack sunscreen and a hat. Check the weather forecast before your visit and dress for the conditions. If visiting us on the weekend, bring a picnic blanket and a packed lunch to enjoy on the grounds!

Your group and school tours will be conducted both in and outside. While we have suitable arrangements to cater for wet weather options, there are limited undercover walkways. We suggest on these days that you bring an umbrella, and suitable wet weather shoes, to be as comfortable as you can during your visit.

Sunscreen and wet-weather ponchos can also be purchased in our Visitor Centre.
