Support & Donations

The Foundation relies heavily on the generosity of donors and volunteers to deliver our programs and services that promote and advance agricultural education as well as maintain and preserve our aboriginal and convict story. There are many different ways you could help us;

Scholarships & Donations

The Tocal Homestead precinct hosts the finest collection of colonial farm buildings dating from the 1830s. The Tocal Building Fund was set up to help individuals and organisations to contribute to the conservation and preservation of these buildings. It is thanks to the generosity of our donors that the Homestead was able to be completely open for interpretation with several rooms restored and refurbished in 2018. While the Homestead still requires interior painting of the stairway and the sitting room, larger projects such as restoring the rotten boards in our tea rooms, repairing timberwork in the old brick kitchen and seeking heritage approval to restore Thunderbolt’s Cottage are also works we need to get started on. Donations of $2 or more are welcomed and tax deductible.

Donors are also welcome to contribute towards the Tocal Prize and Trust Fund which was been set up to support students in various forms and provide the donor with a tax deductible receipt. This ensures that CB Alexander’s legacy of providing financial support to students to further their agricultural study continues. Donations can be of any amount with their donor, amount and how they were used recorded in our prize and trust database. We have had very generous donors providing an amount every year towards a student scholarship while others have left a gift in their will to provide support in perpetuity. All scholarships are awarded to the student in the name of the donor or whomever the donor wishes to record the name of the scholarship in. A register of our scholarships is published every year in the Tocal College Graduation report while the physical funds are accounted for in our audited financial statements as “restricted assets”. We take great pride in being accountable and are able to provide donors with the current balance of their fund, interest received, scholarships paid and any other transactions that have increased or decreased their original donation.

Make A Donation

All support is welcome and donations of $2.00 or more are tax deductible. To make a donation, call our office on 02 4939 8901 or email us at homestead@tocal.com

Thank you to Sponsors

I can assure you that I will be striving to always do my best during my studies so that I can achieve my goal of gaining a position in farm management. In my first year at College I gained a great deal of knowledge and throughly enjoyed the experience. I would like to thank once again the sponsors of this award and the funds will greatly assist with my ongoing studies and fees

Student Scholarship

Without this scholarship it would make it very hard to follow my dreams of studying at Tocal College. Agriculture is a topic I have always loved. Now with your help I can further my skills and education in agriculture. I am very much appreciative of your help along my journey throughout this College year. Once again it would be very difficult to do it without you.

Leaving a gift to the C.B.Alexander Foundation in your Will

Your legacy could ensure the conservation of an important part of Australia’s heritage for more generations to come. Leaving a gift in your will to the C.B Alexander Foundation Will enable us to preserve and protect our historical buildings and our wetlands and to continue sharing this place of historical significance for future generations. We have many varied significant projects that we would like to start work on. A few of these include significant restoration on our Thunderbolt’s cottage, restoration and conversion into an exhibition space of our stone barn, upgrading our restroom facilities to accommodate growing numbers and to make our site more accessible, viewing platforms and pathways to accommodate our environmental groups who visit our wetlands and restumping of our original tea rooms. These are significant projects and critical in ensuring that we preserve the Tocal Homestead as a historical destination point for our children, our community, our visitors for many years to come. We are passionate about our history and what Tocal has meant for the Hunter Valley.
